Machico Gastronomy Fair in Madeira
Machico Gastronomic Week, the largest event of its kind in the region, annually celebrates typical local cuisine and culture, featuring local, national, and international artists, attracting thousands of visitors. One of the most renowned gastronomic festivals on Madeira Island, Machico Gastronomic Week has already held over 30 editions, growing in size and popularity each year.
This festival showcases a wide range of regional flavors and palates, with a strong presence for the gastronomic specialties of the municipality of Machico, particularly fish and seafood.
In addition to its strong gastronomic focus, the festival is accompanied by an entertainment plan that engages visitors, with musical performances by regional and national bands and artists.
This edition of Machico Gastronomic Week is scheduled from July 31st to August 9th, 2026, making it one of the largest and oldest gastronomic festivals in Madeira. Organized by the Machico City Hall, the event aims to promote the rich local cuisine, with a special emphasis on fresh fish and seafood, typical products of the region.
For those looking for new gastronomic experiences to expand their palate, or even for those who just want to enjoy good food, various booths will be set up with restaurants, bars, and local associations, offering a wide range of traditional Madeiran dishes and specialties, such as chopped octopus, horse mackerel, dried skipjack tuna, marinated tuna, limpets, espetada, bolo do caco, and carne vinha d’alhos.

The event will feature a diverse lineup of musical performances, including performances by regional and national artists, providing a festive and culturally enriching atmosphere.

Since 2022, the event has been certified with the “Most Sustainable Event” seal by SGS, standing out for its use of environmentally friendly practices, such as the use of reusable cups and the reduction of plastic waste.
